What is Hip-Hop?
Hip-Hop The term is defined as an American subculture that originated in the 1970's in the south bronx. Hip-Hop itself is broken down into 4 forms of artistic expression:
(Aural) - M.C'ing / Rapping / beatboxing - (Made up of 3 key components its content, "flow" & "delivery")
(Auditory) - D.j'ing / Scratching - (Made up of turntablism, sampling, and synchronization)
(Physical)- Breakdancing / b-boy'ing (Made up of Brazilian capulera, Asian martial arts, russian folk dance & funk style)
( Visual) - Graffiti - (Graffiti started in philly, P.a in the early to mid 60's by 1968 Julio204 is recorded as the first Graffiti artist in N.y)

The 4 corners of Hip-Hop
Breakdancing is the first Cornerstone of hip-hop recorded back as early as the 1920's with a performer from the Cotton club earl Tucker a.k.a Snake hip who inspired breakdancing.
Graffiti is the second cornerstone of hip-hop which started in the early 1960's in philly, Pa Cornbread and Kool earl are accreditted with being the first graffiti artist to use spray paint but new york is accreditted with giving it its name. By the Late 60's turf gangs such as savage skulls, La familia and savage nomads would use the same concept to mark their turf. "Tagging "- Became a form of signature individual to each neighborhood and those who were not from the area would get "Scratched " which is where the italian word griffiti comes from. & Julio204 is the first known graffiti artist who is also affiliated with the above mentioned groups.

"Rock Stead Crew" - Latin breakdancers in the 70's
The manhattan chapter of the Rock steady crew was founded in the late 1970's by Crazy legs(born richard colon, ethnicity Puertorican) and B-boy fresh. At the time Rock steady crew was considered the most credible Breakdancing crew in the world. crazy legs brought the form of rock steady breakdancing to london and paris in 1983 on the newyork city rap tour with Afrika bambaataa and Grandmixer d.s.t . in 1984 Orion pictures produced a movie called beat street where crazy legs played himself and in 1991 in So, what happens now. Crazy legs is the most popular and commercially successful member of the rock steady crew.
Still today many documentaries and opportunities have been presented to R.S.C's president Crazy leggs.

The Nuyorican movement started in the south Bronx which consisted of poets, writers, musicians and artists who were Puerto Rican or of Puerto Rican descent during the 1960's. Hip-hop started in the 1970's which is a culmination is of interexchanged ideas between Latin & African-american Kids in ( The South Bronx) which evolved into an outlet to Voice their social, economical and political realities.

The first Newyork graffiti artist to surface in New york was julio204. julio204 was a Puertorican who lived in 204st in washington heights and belonged to a street gang known as the savage nomads. julio204 is recorded as far back as 1968 tagging with markers and spray paint, which is therefter recorded by Gangs such as the savage nomads, Mau mau's, La familia, & savage skulls. Taki 183 was the first to be recognized by the media in 1971. Joe182 started "Bombing" (which is when you tag as many surfaces as possible for recognition outside of your neighborhood). Which led to Gangs "buffing" (x'ing over tags) which led to Graffiti gang wars, inspiring Documentaires and movies such as Beatstreets who brings graffiti and Breakdancing together in this original dance revolution

The contributions
- A Group known as mean machine came out with a single known as disco dream the first rap song to emphasize spanglish in its song in 1981.
- Roski a member of an all latino rap group called la familia did a live performance singing the entire rap in spanish in 1981, 10 years before the birth of reggaeton .
- In 1981 The legendary Sugar hill gang Features a solo of "Tito puente" (Mambo-king) on Sugar hill groove the first sign of Afri/latin fusion while in the early stages of hip-hop.
- Prince markie dee(Mark anthony Morales-puertorican) a member of the Famous fat boys went on to poduce Mary J blige.
- D.j Disco Wiz becomes the first D.j to create a Mix plate (Hip-hop's first dub recording)
- Stetsasonic Becomes the first Latin Beatboxer to reach fame.
